A two-part mini-series

BACH MASTER WORKS
The Great Eighteen Chorales

Sundays, August 18 and 25 • 2:00 pm

Lutheran Church of Honolulu

1730 Punahou Street, Honolulu

Bach’s “Great Eighteen Chorales” are among his most celebrated works for organ and represent the summit of his chorale prelude composition. Composed during the last ten years of his life, the collection ranges from the brilliant Komm, heiliger Geist (Come, Holy Ghost), to the intricate trio on Allein Gott, in der Höh sei Ehr  (All glory be to God on high), to the somber “deathbed” chorale, Vor deinen Thron (Before thy throne I now appear), which the blind Bach dictated to his son-in-law.

Recently retired after nearly 35 years at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, organist Katherine Crosier will present these epic works complete in two concerts. She will be joined by the Bach Chamber Choir, under the direction of Carl Crosier, which will sing the chorales on which each of the settings is based.

Proceeds will benefit the scholarship programs of the Hawaii Chapter American Guild of Organists.
